Aaron Neville Tooth Fairy

Aaron Neville Is Terrifying

For years, my daughter thought the tooth fairy was a 6-foot tall black man.

I had no idea, but it was totally my fault.

You see, way back in 2005 we were all sitting on the couch, watching a fund-raising special for Hurricane Katrina victims.

And Aaron Neville comes on and starts singing.

In case you don’t know who Aaron Neville is, he’s a great R+B/soul singer from New Orleans.

And he happens to look like that image up there at the top of this post.

Anyways, he starts singing, and my daughter (who was four at the time) turns to me and asks “Who’s that, Daddy?”

Without thinking, I answered “That’s the tooth fairy.”

And that was that.

I had forgotten all about it, to tell you the truth…

Until her teeth started getting loose.

And then the she lost it.

Crying… Worrying… She literally FREAKED OUT.

I couldn’t figure out why, until she finally described the tooth fairy to me.

Then it all came back. And I felt like an idiot.

My poor, sweet little girl was picturing a huge black dude with a giant mole on his face, climbing in her window at night!

So what’s this have to do with you?

Well… Way too often, people form opinions based on something they heard years ago that may or may not be accurate.

For example, years ago the Yellow Pages used to be effective. They aren’t anymore, but tons of business owners STILL pay hundreds of dollars each year to be listed in them, even though no one uses it.

Many business owners also plan their marketing based on what they see others doing.

Now… Since you’re reading my blog, I’m going to assume this isn’t you…
