Erik Stafford here… and I saw a story today on CNN’s website that really got me thinking:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/wayoflife/05/23/project.compassion/index.html

Hundreds of families across The United States have received portraits of their fallen loved ones thanks to Project Compassion, a nonprofit organization dedicated to painting every American military service member who has died on active duty since the September 11, 2001, attacks.

More than 1,000 portraits (offered at no charge) have been completed since founding artist Kaziah Hancock began the project in 2003.

Think about it: this woman has made 1,000 free paintings for other people.

Agree with the war, disagree with the war, whatever your political views may be…

I just find that incredible.

I know it’s totally different, but let me ask you: What can I do for you?

How can I make a difference in your life?

Let me know.

To your success,

Erik

Do you ever feel like there are just some things that you have no business doing at all?

Things that you are destined to fail at?

I took my family camping last weekend… and in typical Stafford fashion it happened at the very last moment.

We had gone to Walmart on Friday for a few groceries, and while Wendy went off to get food I took Evan to wander around the toy section…

We accidentally wound up in the camping section, and twenty minutes later (and $200 bucks lighter) we had a tent, sleeping bags, fishing poles, and flashlights.

By that afternoon we were in the woods, setting up.

Wendy just shrugged her shoulders about the whole thing and rolled her eyes. She is used to me by this point!

Looking back on it, I have no clue what I was thinking: the last time Wendy and I had been camping was well over ten years ago. We had gone twice, and both times it was a total disaster…

But Evan was really, really into it, and I am really, really impulsive, so we figured what the hell.

It was miserable.

Evan and I put up the tent and by the time we had it all set we were both covered in bites and dripping in sweat.

We are both allergic to mosquitoes, it turns out… so we don’t just get bites, we get huge, painful welts.

We tried to fish, and we tried to explore… but it was so friggin hot out, and the bugs were everywhere. At one point I sat in the car with the air conditioning running and thought “why did I ever decide to do this”… and was seriously missing my house, the hammock, and the computer office.

I tried to talk Wendy into packing up and heading home, but she put her foot down. NO WAY, she said. We bought the equipment, we dragged it all out here… and we are damn well going to stay the night.

So we did, and little strange sound kept us up all night.

Never again. Never again.

When we got home we immediately took long, long showers… and sleeping in my bed again never felt so good!

It’s funny, but now, with a couple days gone by to reflect on everything, we have decided that we may just do it again!

After all… looking back on it, fishing with the kids was fun. And sitting around the campfire (after the bugs had eaten their fill) was a blast…

And even more importantly: we did it! We made it through a whole night!

Sure, we made a few mistakes, but we learned a few tricks too…

And next time will be easier.

Does this story maybe remind you of your efforts at succeeding online?

All I can say is to stick with it: it gets easier. Make the mistakes, learn the tricks…

And have fun!

To your success,

Erik

Erik Stafford here… and I have stumbled on to something that has blown my mind:

A totally new way to get started online that is even easier and more profitable than using my program to build your first website.

I have spent the last few weeks digging around, trying to learn as much as I can about these new underground methods…

And while I am excited about discovering them, it has caused me some serious concern because it looks like what I have been ‘preaching’ to you for the past year may not be entirely accurate.

WHAT I TOLD YOU
=====================

I told you that the first step to creating success online is to use my system to build a squeeze page so that you can capture leads and build a list.

It turns out that there may be an easier way that takes less time to setup and creates profits quicker: in as little as two weeks in some cases, believe it or not…

WHAT I TOLD YOU
=====================

I told you you need to be passionate about your topic, niche, or industry so that you could write about it in an emotional, real way.

This system works in any industry and it doesn’t matter if you are passionate about it or not, because you never have to create any content!

This discovery has made me take a hard look at my products and where they may fall short…

I think I assumed that you know what you want to do with your website…

And the truth is that many people have NO IDEA what they want to do with their website!

And even if they do, they still need to figure out what to sell, how to create those products, how to write compelling copy, and how to generate traffic sources so there are buyers coming to the website…

Well, it looks like I may have found a method that removes ALL these headaches…

While it hurts to admit it, I think I have found a system that essentially answers all the questions that I haven’t answered for you.

I am sorry if I have let you down.

I am working like crazy to learn more about this stuff. Hopefully I can make it up to you by setting up a private call with the guy who showed me all of this, so that I can share it with you too…

Keep your eyes peeled for an email from me over the next few days with more information.

To your success,

Erik

Why I hate providing customer support…

by Erik on January 19, 2008

Erik Stafford here… and I hate providing customer support.

How terrible! How could he feel this way, you might be asking yourself.

Want to know why I hate it so much?

Well… I remember when I was first building and testing The Faster Webmaster. I had bought a script that I was trying to install and use to manage my members… so that people who purchased my product could access it, but no one else could.

And it was confusing as hell.

I mean, it was terrible. Even with all my webmaster experience, I was just totally stuck trying to install this thing and make it work.

I was frustrated. I was banging my head against the wall.

So I emailed the people who created it and I asked for help. After all, when I bought the script the website assured me that they had a “highly responsive customer support department” to assist me with whatever I might need.

So I finally caved in, and emailed them one night.

And I sat. And I waited. I sat there all night, not working, not relaxing… just sitting there in limbo checking my email every twenty minutes and stewing in my own frustration.

It was not a good place to be.

And you know what? I know for a fact that I have put some of my customers in that exact same spot. I know that some of them have emailed me, asking for help… and they had to sit and wait. Sometimes for several days.

I hate providing customer support because I suck at it. Plain and simple.

People tend to dislike (or even hate) things they are not good at… and I feel like I am not good at providing customer support.

I feel like I am letting people down.

The bottom line is that I just get too many emails to answer them all in a timely manner. I love answering my own emails personally (Frankly, I think it sets me apart from everyone else online) but I am to a point where I just get too many of them to do that anymore.

Not in a timely manner, anyway.

So what do I do? Do I create a ticket system to manage customer support? Maybe hire someone to manage it? Or do I continue to answer all my own emails myself, even if it makes you have to wait longer for an answer?

Let me know your thoughts.

To your success,

Erik

(New Video) The automatic gold mine…

by Erik on January 14, 2008

Erik Stafford here.. and you have to check out this video by Frank Kern.

http://www.thefasterwebmaster.com/mass-control

When you go there watch the video… and then fill out the form to get the other free stuff.

I just did it and watched the 2-part “free money” video, and it’s awesome…

He’s also giving away a 30+ page report and a 90-minute video about Mass Control. (That’s the system that he used to bring in a whopping $23 million bucks in 24 hours for himself and his clients.)

Anyways, it’s really, really good. Go here and the first video should play automatically:

http://www.thefasterwebmaster.com/mass-control

Let me know what you think!

To your success,

Erik

Starting 2008 on the right foot…

by Erik on January 1, 2008

Erik here… and I want to wish you a Happy New Year, and all the best wishes from me to you for a happy and successful 2008!

I would have posted on New Years Eve or New Years Day, but I didn’t want to bother. I was relaxing far, far away from the computer… and I hope you were too!

Anyways, I want to help you start the new year off on the right foot, so instead of waiting until Friday for your usual “Free Gift” I want to give you one today as well…

It’s a fantastic book (turned E-Book) called “Masters of Copywriting” and it contains tons and tons of easy-to-understand, real-world information about how to make your sales copy, website copy, and emails really explode off the page.

It’s my gift to you, and here it is:
http://www.erikstafford.com/gifts/Masters-Of-Copywriting.pdf

Here is to a great year ahead of us!

To your success,

Erik
